About Jones Air
Jones Air began operating in 1974 when Daryl Jones took over an
existing business in St George. Daryl started his flying career
in 1960 with Hazelton Air Services and continued on to become Chief
Pilot of the operation now known as Hazelton Airlines. Today Jones
Air is owned by Daryl's sons, Scott and Peter and utilises eleven
fixed wing aircraft. Seven of these aircraft are high capacity turbine
powered ag aircraft ranging in capacity from 2000 to 3200 litres
per load.
The
Jones Air operation includes an aircraft maintenance facility based
in
St George, servicing aircraft in the western regions of Queensland
and New South Wales.
We
also offer charter and scenic flight services in our Cessna 210
six seater aircraft.
We
are long time members of the Aerial Agricultural Association of
Australia (AAAA), and our company and our pilots are Spraysafe Accredited.
Scott and Peter Jones and manager Shayne Hart have all served on
the Board of Directors of the AAAAs.
Other
aerial work undertaken by Jones Air includes waterbombing,
plague locust control, weed control in waterways and habitats for
the Department of Natural Resources, marine oil spill cleanup, wild
dog baiting and aerial photography.
Jones
Air services irrigated and dryland farms in an area from Roma, Meandarra
and Moonie through St George and Dirranbandi down into north-western
New South Wales.
